Reuben Keeney I

Letter of Aug.2, l902 from Henry Martin Kenney to Rev. Martin W. Kenney(cousins) says "Your great grandfather Reuben Keeney was born in Hartfordin l746, married JEMIMA WEBSTER in Bolton, Ct. in l770. Enlisted inCONTINENTAL ARMY in Capt. Grant's Company, Col. Thompson's Regiment inl778. Removed to Gill, Mass. and died there in l797.
"During the Revolutionary War, REUBEN I was a member of the ConnecticutVolunteers or Militia and served at the siege of Boston and among those400 Connecticut troops who assisted in the BATTLE OF BUNKER HILL only.He re-enlisted on January 1, 1778, discharged on March 1, 1778. Thistime he went only to Providence, R.I. as Providence was threatened withinvasion by the British. At Bunker Hill he was in Second Company, 4thReg. under Capt. Grant, grandfather of U.S. Grant. "On September 17, 1932, I visited a very old cemetery located nearBernardston, Massachusetts. This was reached via country dirt roads andfinally over a nearly obscure path through a meadow, down a steep hillthrough trees and opening into a lower land meadow. This is the oldcemetery just north of Bernardston to left of Interstate Highway as yougo north. Here is buried my great, great, great grandfather and his wifeand one daughter. This is a very old cemetery and larger than the onementioned above. The inscription on marble slabs e as follows:
