Olav Olavson

"Olav Olavson built a house for himself at estate-owner, Mathias Dahl in1731.
He, Olav, was at that time one of the most wellknown farmers in thatarea. He took good care of it [his farm] and had many commissions oftrust. He was also co-operator at church from about 1730. Asco-operator he was sent by the dean Gelmeiden to talk to Torslein ysteseand bring him to reason with alcoholic and trouble in the neighborhood.He answered that as he was so unpleasant it was reasonable that he hadbeen unpleasant with others, but he thought he could take care ofhimself. Olav often was a lawyer for or administer at Rosendal court andhad several commissions by the Baron at Rosendal. As a private gentlemanhe had commerical affairs and carried on sea trade and he had the name"Kjopmans-Olav" [affair-commisser Olav]. He left as a man of means 334rdl. It was also a lot of silver after him, and the widow got a solidbeautiful girdle of silver as compensation for the funeral ceremony.
