Laurie Olson Leonard

Laurie was born September 27, 1928 in Sharon, North Dakota. She wasconfirmed in 1942 at Hoff Lutheran Church, Sharon, North Dakota. Sheattended schools in Sharon, 1 year in Bemidji, Minnesota, and shegraduated from Franklin High School in 1946. She attended MankatoState. Laurie married Lloyd William Leonard on April 14, 1948 at St.Luke's Lutheran Church, Franklin, Minnesota. Lloyd was killed in an autoaccident the winter after they were married. In 1951 Laurie married Douglas Sherman and they had four children:
Mark Steven [Debra] Sherman - 3 daughters, 1 son
Debra Lee [Steve] Hjulberg - 1 son, 6 daughters
Todd Douglas [Peggy] Sherman - 3 sons, 2 daughters
Joseph Allen [Stefanie] Sherman - 2 sons
Laurie served as City Clerk of Franklin, Minnesota for 20 years. In 1997she was diagnosed with rectal cancer and had two surgeries. She retiredfrom the City Clerk position on May 15, 1998. In 1998 she was fightingcancer again with tumors in her liver. The cancer was in remission forsometime. Laurie died on Mary 23, 2001 at home. The funeral was held atSt. Luke's Lutheran Church and burial in Franklin Cemetery.
