"Nils took over his father's farm, but moved to Dragland Farm inTjeldsund, Nordland, Norway in 1846. Emigrated to Rice County Minnesota, USA in 1875. [Descendants have family names, Nelsonand Lavanger in ND] " - Dragland Family Association
Genealogy. Rice County is in southern Minnesota -Fairbault is the county seat.
Nils signed on as crew on a fishing boat and traveled to NorthernNorway. He and his brother Ole bought a farm in Dragland.
Nils sold his share of the farm to Ole on September 25, 1853. Nilswas the first of the family to emigrate to America in 1875
He was uncle to Lars, Daniel, Mikkal, Nicoline, and Thomas and it istold that he arranged for them to go to America. Nils settled in North Dakota, maybe in Fargo or Grand Forks, and had manychildren. Per-Harald Jensen reported that he had no information
about him after he went to America.
